Humboldt-Institut
Over the past years, Egida has had the privilege of working in partnership with the Humboldt-Institut—one of the largest and most experienced language schools in Germany and Austria. For more than 40 years, the Institute has grown to a network of 18 schools welcoming more than 70,000 students from over 160 countries.
The Humboldt-Institut cherishes a holistic concept of learning German through the use of daily language and vocabulary in interactions between students. The goal is to completely immerse learners in German life and culture during the period of study.
A true highlight of this program lies in the classroom setting. The German courses are held at the Bertha-von-Suttner-Gymnasium in Vienna, which is an absolutely unique school in Europe – it is a 189-meter long ship with a total of 36 classrooms! An unforgettable summer experience awaits, with the learning environment on Danube Island taking place inside and outside of the ship, where classes are held.
Vienna-Teenager Program
Students have a rigorous and intensive German course with 30 lessons per week in the classroom, with a maximum of 10 students per class for levels A1-B1.
After classes, the program continues outside of classrooms where students can practice their language skills with their friends, group leaders, and school staff, surrounded by German culture.
City Тour and After-School Activities
Every day after classes, students have an attractive and varied activity leisure program with sports, games or cultural events. The following leisure activities are offered: Arts and crafts • Billiards • Board games • Football • Museums • Prater • Slacklining • Swimming • City tour • Table football.
Every Saturday, staff members organize and accompany full-day excursions to excellent destinations. Every Wednesday, students have half-day excursions to sights and interesting towns within the region. The excursions and the entrance fees are included in the course fee. Some of the excursions include Schönbrunn Palace, the Prater, Lainzer Tiergarten, Burg Liechtenstein, Kahlenberg, and Lake Neusiedl.
The city centre with its many historic and cultural sights can easily be reached during free time. The nearby Danube Island is an oasis of tranquillity and is ideal for relaxation, sports, and countless leisure activities.

Accommodation
Students live in the Guest House Wien-Brigittenau, Vienna’s most modern youth hostel. It is ideally located between Danube Island and downtown Vienna, which gives students a blend of the atmosphere of the big city with the advantages of a quiet and safe residential area.
The bright and modern twin rooms all have en-suite bathrooms, as well as air conditioning.
The Humboldt-Institut’s crew carefully chooses students who will share a room with each other by matching roommates who have a comparable German language level and are of similar age, yet speak different native languages. This way students are encouraged to speak and practice German with each other outside of the classroom. Boys and girls are housed separately.
Extracurricular activities allow students to practice what they have learned in the classroom. Every day after class, as well as on the weekends, students get to choose activities from the versatile leisure program, including sports, arts and crafts, and cultural experiences. This boosts their motivation, promotes tolerance, and ensures fun learning the German language. Furthermore, half-day excursions take place every Wednesday and a full-day excursion every Saturday.
