About Camp in Leysin

Egida is pleased to have the opportunity to collaborate with an institution that has 48 years of experience in organizing exceptional residential camps for young students. The camp in Leysin has a large selection of fun-packed outdoor adventures, sports, language studies, arts, science, and award-winning Leadership Training courses.

Students will have time to enjoy the pure mountain air and the natural environment of this alpine paradise, complete with its meadows, forests, and wildlife. Some excursion highlights include a hike where campers taste homemade cheese and ice cream, a tour of the beautiful Lac Léman, and the great international city of Geneva.

Tennis Camp

The Tennis Camp in Leysin is a dynamic and innovative specialist tennis program.  The Camp is directed by Christine Suard, who brings 20 years of coaching experience, including training of the top 10 Swiss Junior players. Christine leads a team of experienced Swiss and international coaches and sports experts that share a real passion for tennis. The team runs a well-established, successful program that brings out the very best in each player, with where both campers and coaches are sure to have a fun, enjoyable experience.

Players are divided into three general categories/levels—1. Club, 2. Competition, and 3. Green. Each session begins with an assessment of each player based on ability, age, and personal goals. For 3 hours each weekday morning, every player is challenged to maximize his or her individual potential. During the two-week session, players may advance to a higher group as they make progress.

The Club level is dedicated to beginner and intermediate levels, focusing on developing core tennis technique and tactical skills; as well as fitness, match play and a love for the game. The Competition level is designed for advanced players who are competing in tournaments in their home country. This program is challenging with high-intensive and physical conditioning training and mental strength preparation. A highlight of the program is a competitive match-play with some of Switzerland’s top junior players! The Green level is based on the award-winning Kids Tennis High School program by Swiss Tennis, of which Christine Suard is a national representative.

An extended program – Combination of Tennis & Language

Language learning through sport is becoming increasingly popular, as it has been shown that campers learn best when having fun. The camp in Leysin combines classroom language practice with language immersion in the tennis program, structured so that campers have three hours of French language tuition on weekday mornings and three hours of tennis instruction (in French or English) in the afternoons. Please note that this option involves a supplementary charge.

Combination of tennis and another program

It is also possible for students to combine tennis with another program. In addition to three hours of tennis every weekday afternoon, campers can combine with morning weekday sessions of any of the following programs: Summer Camp Dance, Summer Camp Sports, Summer Camp Film Academy, Summer Camp VC STEM-Robotics, or Summer Camp Junior Adventurers Camp. These options require a supplementary charge.

City Tour and After-School Activities

Students will have exciting excursions to Geneva, the lakeside town of Lausanne, a chocolate factory, and the Water-Park in nearby Aigle. In the afternoons and evenings, campers enjoy an exciting range of activities. Highlights are archery, tennis, hikes, mountain-climbing and beach volleyball in the afternoons and fun team competitions, International Cuisine Night, Talent Show and the Final Night Farewell Disco in the evenings.

Evenings will include activities packed with fun alongside campers from other programs. Evenings are filled with exciting imaginative games, spectacular events, and relaxing activities. These include: Village Outings • Treasure Hunt • Camp Olympics • Carnival Night • Sports Night • Ice Skating • Discos and Talent Night • International Cuisine Night • Final evening Awards and Farewell Prom Night • Team-building challenges

The final evening will close the week in style, when campers partake in a fancy dinner, after which they have an awards ceremony, fun performances, and a prom-style disco.

On all excursions, students have free time for cultural visits, shopping and walking around in small groups. On visits to places of interest, admission fees are included.
