The Ivy Academic Program
This program has been specifically designed to provide students with an insight into university life in the United States. Students choose ‘major’ and ‘minor’ subjects to pursue during their study. Major subjects include traditional academic subjects, whilst minor subjects are skills-based. Students will work on their major subject for 30 hours across each two-week session and on their minor subject choice for 10.5 hours per session.
In their major subject classes, students will learn in a variety of styles, such as traditional classroom learning, interactive seminars, and debates with fellow students from around the world. Students can expect to have their views challenged and to discuss different perspectives, developing abilities to express their own viewpoints.
During minor subject classes, students can expect to work individually and in small groups to solve a problem or bring an idea to life. In doing so, they will work on key attributes for their future studies and employment, including leadership, presentation skills, team building, creative thinking, and problem-solving.
By the end of this course, students will also improve their public speaking, debating, and writing or leadership skills in their chosen subject area. Finally, students will acquire knowledge and skills in academic disciplines studying alongside peers who may become future colleagues. They will make long-lasting friendships and have an opportunity to form or participate in the global network of leaders.
